Who has been a WoW geek for well over 12 years now is also a hoarder type collector of anything WoW related and this cook book was a WIN-WIN- birthday gift for him.He is a pretty decent cook and has enjoyed using this cookbook to WOW his WoW pals. He said it is pretty cool being able to bring to (real) life the things he has snacked on in the virtual world.A few weeks ago he held a WoW themed surprise birthday party for a WoW friend and built a six course meal around the recipes in the book and gave the friend the cook book as a gift. Now everyone wants a WoW themed dinner party!WOW..I think I wore out my W key and O key.....typing this review!!
My friend Nomi and I cooked every recipe in this book, but everything came out burned. Not sure what went wrong.
All my life in Azeroth, Ive eaten many virtual meals. Now ive brought it home, the meals are easily explained, and has a listing for its specific dietary needs people. Gluten free, vegetarian. This cookbook is a must for the diehard WoW fans and Chefs alike. Now order, and go fourth, becoming a Master Chef. You can't be any worse than Nomi.
I cooked the Buzzard Bites tonight for my Husband, Son and I. Absolutely amazing! Tasted so good and my son loved it! My husband loved it and i deff loved it :) I will say, It is listed as a "side" and it tells you it would pair well with a Cheesy Pasta, DEFF make the pasta, By themselves they are tasty but can be a tad overwhelming after a couple of them.I will be making the Meat Pie tomorrow! So im super excited for this. I will also update and post a picture of it as well!Enjoy guys and i hope you it goes better for you than poor Nomi! (My husband told me if i burnt any of it my new nickname would be Nomi, WompWomp!)Night number 2 - I made the Meat Pie. Sooo Amazing! After eating the pie crust (never made my own pie crust before, just always bought it) I will never buy another pie crust, It was soo good, Flaky and just had that homemade delicious taste to it!
We cooked... tracker snacks, crunchy spider surprise, conjured mana buns, Zangar buttons,dirges kicking chimaerok chops and wild rice cakes tonight... not saying I'm a professional chef, but my sister is.. and shes made some changes to the mana buns as the recipe for the dough is terrible. She says you need to basically double the liquids. She's easily 800+ cooking irl.. also rice cakes are good with less flour, more cheese, another egg, and something saucy. Over all everything was great. Really fun time cooking with the family.
Just got this two days ago and tried the first two dishes today. I've been playing the games for years and spent many hours leveling my cooking skills across my different characters in the MMO so I was heaps excited to see there was a cookbook on the market. For a change, everybody in the family absolutely loved dinner and we're looking forward to trying out the next lot.The recipes are very easy to follow, although, being Australian, I have to avail myself of Google and scribble the appropriate measurements and temperatures into the recipes as we don't work in Fahrenheit, pounds and sticks of butter etc. I also found the recipes easy to adapt to individual tastes and/or cheaper products (like substituting chicken for turkey).Obviously, the whole layout and the way the World of Warcraft is being integrated into the book is a treat in itself. I've got a lot of cookbooks, and many just sit on the shelf, gathering dust. This one, I'm sure, will not be one of them. Already have about half of what I need for the Savoury Deviate Delight. I'll be giving this a shot on Saturday or Sunday.
When I first saw this I thought it was a joke that was being taken too far. As a Warcraft fan, I decided to pick it up kind of as a joke.However... While the premise of this book is kind of silly, the actual content is not. The pages are beautifully laid out and very professional. The recipes are related to the game yet grounded in reality, being real dishes ranging from basic things anyone can cook to professional recipes that take time a effort to make properly. I was very surprised at how much effort and love went into making it, it's a solid cookbook by it's own right, as well as being an interesting topic for discussion, a cool novelty for fans of Warcraft, and I'd almost say it's a work of art.If you are a Warcraft fan and like cooking, you really can't go wrong, It's a really neat book.
So far I have tired three items from the cookbook. The rolls, the Blood Berry Tart, and the Tracker Snacks. All of them have been wonderful! the instructions are easy to follow, the ingredients are easy to obtain, and the pictures in the book are really nice too. The small bit of information about each dish, as if it was in the Warcraft world is a nice added touch. I look forward to making MUCH more from this cookbook!
There are NO words to describe to how incredible this cookbook is! The amount of creativity and culinary talent one must have to put this together SO well is unimaginable, to me. I have always wanted to make many of the dishes and drinks in World of Warcraft, and apart from most of the ingredients themselves being fictional, there is no way I could have followed this closely to the recipes and the result still be edible. Far from just being edible, these dishes and beverages are PHENOMENAL! I even bought a cylindrical potion bottle and a silver chalice to make a couple of the drinks, because I got THAT into the "world" after using this cookbook. I'm getting her Shire Cookbook (inspired by Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit) next. And I of course plan to eventually have them; even the ones inspired by shows or movies that I either dislike or don't watch at all. Her recipes are THAT incredible. But the excitement you get from making these wonderful creations, that you have ALWAYS wanted to try, from shows/movies you love is akin to what you would feel from being dropped into these fantasy worlds themselves. This is finally all possible, thanks to the talented and adventurous mind of Chelsea Monroe-Cassel!
